Hello, everyone. I’ve been having some trouble getting articles out. So, I thought I’d post a short update to get my newsletter publishing blood pumping again. Here's what I’ve been up to for the past few weeks:
Gathering lemons.
I have bought quite a few lemons. It's not an amount that would raise suspicion, but quite a few more than my normal lemon-buying habits. I don’t exactly know what I am buying them for. My brain says for a spell (super vague) but I have yet to cast one using lemons. I will have to talk with my inner self and ask about their draw to lemons. Cutting into a lemon reveals such beautiful and vibrant insides. They truly are a beautiful fruit.
Discovering new places
I have discovered a new-to-me witchy(ish) shop in my town! (it's actually an herbal apothecary with a few books on witchcraft and a couple of mini caldrons for sale. But it’s going to be my #1 place for herbal spell ingredients from now on.) Finding this gem was completely by accident. I was waiting for my bike to get out of the Bike-Fixing-Store and decided to kill time by walking around. Because of this, I stumbled upon a little community center/apothecary. I had a really wholesome conversation with the owner and bought some incense and a few candles. This place wasn't online when I would search for metaphysical/witchcraft/apothecary shops. It was in a little hidden-away spot. This made me think about how I haven’t thoroughly explored the town I have been living in for 4 years. I have driven around it, but if I hadn’t been walking, this place would have passed me by unseen at 35 MPH. Explore your town on foot or bike if you can. You’ll find stuff that you’d miss by car.
Gathering stories and knowledge
I have been reading a lot more. My partner and I have been listening to The Hunger Games Trilogy and I have been reading more printed books. At first, reading printed books was part of a noble quest to lower my social media consumption and screen time; but now I do it for enjoyment instead of a replacement for social media. I recently finished The Smoke Gets in Your Eyes by Caitlin Doughty. It got me thinking a lot about death but not in a doomy gloomy way. I just started Untie the Strong Women by Clarissa Pinkola Estes, PhD, and so far I love it. I have been a devotee of Our Lady for quite a while and I’ve heard mention of this book around. I thought it was about time I gave it a read.

Touching grass
I am finally getting outside. The sun is starting to warm up the earth once more and nothing feels better to my soul than sitting in the sunshine. I rode my bike to the park and drew geese one day. That action improved my whole week.

Building a website??
Not going well. I don’t know what I am doing and it’s so complicated. That’s all I have to say about that
Writing articles
I have been writing a lot, but withhold my writings from publication like a dragon sitting on a pile of treasure. I get to the first draft stage then for some reason can’t bring myself to edit and publish. That is the reason why am am sending this personal update into the universe. This article seems lower stakes but it will get Something out there and make it easier for me to follow it with more somethings.
Building community
My biggest cup-filler this month was a community circle I went to. The premise is that we all bring something to share in this once-a-month circle. This can be food, a poem, a story, a quote, or anything you feel like you’d want to add to the metaphorical community soup pot. The organizer had a caldron burned and a homemade incense blend in it. The air filled with a sweet and smokey aroma. I felt seen and felt like a part of something; a feeling that has long been missing from my life
That is what I’ve been up to the past few weeks. I hope to publish another useful and information-rich article soon.

You didn’t ask for input on the lemons 🍋, so feel free to ignore these, but my top mental hits while reading that part were: Cleansing, Brightening, Refreshing, Sunshine, Sparkling ✨. Lemon is one of my favorite scents in the world. I make my bathroom room spray with lemon essential oil. Smelling it is also good for headaches, and I find it uplifting during my depressive episodes.
I hear you on the website; I’m a year into a three year hosting deal, and have not come close to beginning to setting it up yet. While reading about your frustration, I thought of fiverr, which I may look into myself… I think I’d better nail down what I want it to be before I do that, though.
That’s so cool that you found that little shop! I’d love to discover something that cool in my neighborhood.
Your community circle sounds amazing!
